When a puppy comes to a new home he will either start crying or barking and since this is the owner’s first experience with that pup, sometimes petting a dog can get the pup a little nervous and baffled. Some times the puppy keeps barking and crying even at night till they get used to the environment

Many puppies hate to be left alone in the house or in a room. So whenever you go out or even if you are just going out of the room they get scared and start barking and crying. The puppy gets so used to seeing you that he feels you have abandoned him and this makes him cry. Most owners react to this situation by going close to the pup and petting him, however this makes the puppy feel that his barking and crying has been successful in getting you back. So he will take this approach every time he wants your attention and this will turn him into a nuisance pet. But if you don’t pay heed to his behavior you may upset others around you. You may also want some covers for dog crates and cheap dog apparel that will be great for your dog.

You are in a difficult situation here with your puppy crying and the people giving you dirty looks about being a bad pet owner. Here are some ideas that can help you tackle this situation.

• Lend a deaf year to your dog’s barking. Don’t yell at him because this will just frighten him and make him want to be close to you or your yelling may even increase his anxiety and he will continue barking.

• Use a product called “teaching lead” which will let your puppy be around you all the time. By using this product you will help your puppy to be comfortable and feel your presence till he gets used to the new environment. You will also need to look at some more dog store that you can help aid in training your dog.

• Don’t pet your puppy or talk to him when you are going out because when you do this the next time your puppy will be forced to think that you are only doing this because you intend to go out. Similarly don’t talk or play with him when you get back home try to come back home as soon as possible but avoid giving your dog any signs that he may start associating with your departure.

You can also use simple startling tricks to divert your dog’s attention. You can use a squirt gun and squirt some water over your puppy. This should startle him enough to stop his barking. You could also use a roll made of paper or a can filled with pennies and as soon as he starts just bang the paper roll against the door or wall or thrown the can in his direction and the loud noise will certainly get his attention and get him to stop.
